Context
Although the accessibility of technological applications to support elderly people in their daily lives should have increased by speech technology, elderly are still reluctant to use them. An ageing population is an extra factor that will put even more pressure on the already strained healthcare system.
Problem Statement
This multi-disciplinary project investigates whether the experience elderly have with technology improves if the speech technology uses their native regional language.
Our Solution
To properly adress the problem statement mentioned above, this project has a focus on the technology that adresses Grunnegs-speaking senior in their own language. This is being done by training a text-to-speech (TTS) system that can read Grunnegs out loud, which is being deployed in a robot.
